Well Damian.

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1185239281 looks to be a similar plea for help.

The answer is not in your supplied clues. While many rely on your choice of AV and firewall I'd still give the EWIDO ONLINE SCANNER (see google.com) a pass on this machine and see what's up there.

Also, email me your HIJACKTHIS log since it usually reveals items and I won't have to interrogate you for many posts.

Bob

PS. Email is via my profile and HIJACKTHIS is found with google.com

Tx! I'm right now sending you the .log to through mail.

PS: That "similar plea for help" is MY plea for help... unanswered there Sad

I see DAP. And the SUBVERSION Trojan.
Jul 26, 2007 5:56AM PDT

DAP is a common item in troubled machines. I also see other items I'd toss out in the usual HJT analysis. There appear to be some lingering items from some malware to be cleaned up as well as my strongest advice of ejecting DAP.

Read http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=255339&messageID=2533167 as to where to get full service on your HJT log file.

I also see SUBVERSION noted at http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/tsvncache/

That helped. Please eject those pests and things may work better.

Just to clarify...

That may or may not be a trojan. It's best to head to a HJT forum for a full reading.

However DAP has been trouble for people that bring me their machines. I just eject it.

Trojan? I don't think so, I've installed TortoiseSVN to manage my Subversion SVN repository Wink

I've also deleted all of DAP's registry keys, but the problem hasn't gone...

There were more items in that dump. But as you can tell I may not read it properly or know that you installed this or that. There are more errors there but get the people who read it all that time to do this.

Yeah, I already tried that "I've also tried installing uphclean, which reported this event the first time i logged off and on. ..." with no success.

Tx anyway! Grin

Solved
Jul 27, 2007 2:17AM PDT

It seems I've found the answer. It looks like it was my internet (adsl) connection that wasn't letting me log off correctly. The first solution I've found is to close the adsl connection before logging off, though it would be nice to find something more automatic than that.

What I don't know yet is if it has something to do with the firewall.

Should have noticed it earlier... i know... lol

Thanks all of you guys for your help! Wink
