Problems installing programs with Vista

Aug 12, 2007 8:00AM PDT

I have some software which is 2 years old and I need to install the original first and then the upgrades. Needless to say, Vista won't let me. I get the error "The Win16 subsystem was unable to enter protected mode because DOSX.exe must be in your autoexec.nt and present in your path."

Any idea's what I need to do?

Cathy

Leaving out the software title hinders finding "the cure."

It's that one small detail that I might have been able to head to the office to get a copy of the software to duplicate your issue. But since it's not in your post I can only suggest you try the fix for this that was for XP. The issue and cure could be the same. But without the title I can't do this right.

Don't think you'll have ths one

The software is the Janome Digitizing software for embroidery machines.

I have since brought the laptop back to nothing as I feared corrupt files from what I read from other replies. Unfortunately, I don't get far as I get an error from the disk. Toshiba has to send me a new one, ugg, 6 days. For now, I'll make it a xp pro. Then I'll have to deal with the same problem.

I looked deeper at this with my 2 Vista laptops.
