If you have 137GB, you should consider this done until you move to a non-DOS OS.

I don't understand whats going wrong.I am tring to install Win98SE OS on this 160gb hard drive.I know win98SE does'nt normally reconize anything over 137gbs but,The instruction booklet that came with my Intel Motherboard said it was possable to reconize the extra storage because of the advanced accelerater software that is loaded on the driver.Even the Maxtor instuction manual says someting about severel type of Intel motherboards have the capacity to reconize the extra storage space.Someting about Ultra ATA/133.I have a Intel 845GL.When I downloaded the application
Accelerater it installed the IDE ATA/ATAAPI Controlers.I even went in to the propertys, drivers tab, and, driversdetailsbuttun and got these 2 drivers: IntelATA.MPD,Intelvsd.VXD And those are suppose to be the right drivers. Can you shed a little light on this for me please.Thank-You for your time.gpmiller1952

gp, what exactly is going on...? the drive doesn't let you install but what are you getting? errors? does it not recognize the full size of the hard drive? curious...
i don't know if this will help of not but when recently got a maxtor, i was going to install it and had a problem with it not recognizing the whole size of the hd... i was frustrated for days... but i was trying to install it as a slave on an xp machine... anyway, i used the software that came with the drive and formatted it and all that but it still wouldn't let me get the full size... i ended up taking out the jumper so that it was jumperless and the computer then was able to recognize the full size as a slave. i am not remembering if this worked for my 98 machine also because i have since then upgraded to xp. hope this helps some...
