Problems formatting CD-RW's

Apr 4, 2004 3:03AM PDT

Hi,

I have just opened a pack of TDK 12*10*8*4* High Speed CD-RW's ("for high speed recorders") to find that none of them will format with my "INCD UDF packet writing" software.

I was previously using exactly the same CD's with the only exception being that they are "10*8*4*" (ie not 12*)

I've tried reformatting one of the old ones to check that the CD-RW drive is not broken and they format fine. Also, I've checked 3 or 4 in the new batch and they all have the same result.

I have an emachines 570 with a 2GHz Intel Celeron processor and a Samsung CD-R/RW SW-240B R400 (40* max write) and I'm using Windows XP home.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mike

What happens when you try and format them? YOu don't tell us what message you get.

I have found that some media just doesn't work with some drives, the Sony media in particular doesn't work with any drive I have tried, so I don't use it.

Try different disks, take the ones you bought back.

Thanks J,

It says, "Disc error occured, reboot computer and try again. Error code 0051-0003-0002-0000".

Does this mean anything? If not I think I'll do as you say and try a selection of other discs.

Thanks again for your quick reply.

Regards

Mike

I am a bit confused here but that's ok, hehe. Let me see if I got this right. You have just changed the cd writer and it won't read InCD formated disk? If that's the case; what software did you installed here?

If what I asked doesn't make sense, just ignore this.
