of the password utility that you are trying to use and its publisher if you know it? It could be that you need to run the utility with Administrator credentials under Windows 7 or it could be that the utility simply does not function correctly under Windows 7.
Knowing the above would be helpful, because what you are describing is NOT a native function of Windows.
I moved a folder called Passwords from an external hard drive to the C drive.
I want to add a password. In XP I'd add the password, click on close, be asked if I wanted to save the changes and say yes. That was it.
In 7 I click on the Passwords folder once, I see it, but can't add anything. I click again and another duplicate window appears that I can add the changes to. I add the changes, click on close, asked it I want to save the changes, yes, then a window od the C drive appears with Password in blue right after File Name.
I click on Save, I'm told it already exists, do I want to replace it. Yes, but access is denied. Click on OK and I'm right back at the C drive window with Passwords after File name.
At that point I'm just going around in circles
