Problems copying from external hardware

Nov 18, 2008 8:10AM PST

Hi!
The issue is quite bizarre: it all started when my computer stopped copying jpeg files from the photo camera. No errors, it simply didn't copy. Considering this problem and the fact that the system was starting to be a little unstable (blue screens of death way too often), I formatted and started fresh. Unfortunately the problem hasn't been solved. Jpeg files from photocamera still won't copy into C, nor audio files from the mp3 player. I also tried connecting the devices to the USB ports in the back of the computer, but it still won't work. Any suggestions, ideas, help? Thanks!

No details so bad guesses.

I'm guessing you plug that camera into some USB port on the machine. Try this. Use a rear USB port and consider using a card reader instead.

half problem

OS is Windows XP Pro. I can try using a card reader for the pictures (thanks for the hint!), but what about the mp3 player? It's a Creative Zen Vision M I use to record stuff so I need to take it off the device. Can't format and try again because the recordings are on it right now. I think it's a machine problem, maybe I should try attaching the peripherals to another unit and see what happens?

Sorry, I can't guess here.

I had hoped for some clues such as make and model and what those words in red ask for.

For now, try the rear USB ports.
