PITB to use, very slow and clunky, and lots of re-log-ins but it just told me that my account was closed. They might have meant that the website database was closed. I've always thought is was a language translation thing or an poorly written site or both, it always slow. A four letter password hardly seems over-secure.
Cinglar's web site is incredibly frustrating to use. They are so paranoid about security, that you have to jump thru hoops to get the information you need. Logging in is a pain because your password might not be what you thought it was (after changing my password once, it changed back to the old one), and if you enter the wrong thing three times, it keeps you from logging in for about a day. Once in, you have to click on way too many things to get to your bill. Plus, it's so slow, you're tempted to leave it and coming back to it later, but then you've timed out and you have to start over. Need help? If you click the "Customer Service" tab, you'll find the only way you can get back to your account info, is to login again. The "back" button won't work there or anywhere else on the site. (If you need help, open a new browser window but get back to the first one before your login times out.) Since the "back" button doesn't work, you have to follow the links on each page to get back to where you need to be, which is pretty tedious, especially since I didn't find the labels all that intuitive... ![]()
Basically, it's so "secure", it's nigh on impossible to use. You definitely don't want the "paperless" option! To be fair, they have redone the web site a couple times, and it seems easier to find things than it used to be, but it's still a real pain...
Up until yesterday, I've been dealing with this. Now, I guess they've redone it again because I can't login at all now. I've tried quite a few times in the last couple days, but it goes to this cute screen which says it's verifying my login info and that it might take a couple minutes (only site I know of that has to work so hard just to check a login). It's cute because their little orange logo is bouncing on it. After an hour, though, it stops being cute. No kidding -- I left my computer "logging" in to their web site to do something else. After about an hour, it was still trying to login. In case my password was wrong (eg that old "reset the password problem"), I tried the "forgot my password" link, but that went to a different bouncing screen and hung there for five to ten minutes before I gave up.
I looked for their "contact us" screen (which I think is easier to get to now than before), and found phone numbers to call. I called, but the office is closed for the weekend. It is possible to email them, but you have to login first... ![]()
I do have a Mac, so it is possible this is better under Internet Explorer, but my guess is that while login might work, you still have jump thru all the hoops. Cingular seems to think they're features.
Wishing I'd switched wireless services last time I'd renewed even though I like the phone and wireless service... ![]()
