Problems before win7 install and after install

Nov 20, 2009 6:55AM PST

i have an hp pavilion dv9620us laptop and i had vista and upgraded to win 7 now before i upgraded i had a couple problems with the webcam and not having it show up at all in device manager and the cd, dvd drive not showing up untill i do the search for new hardware then the cd dvd will show up,but not the webcam in device manager so i contact hp and of course they want you to try all kinds of stuff and i did, nothing helped, all updates are up to date bios everything all virus software ran,now when i turn on my computer the blank screen with the hp options at the bottom with the f1 and so on then it hangs there with a blinking cursor for about a min or more then the starting windows comes on then takes another min or so to load, i have ran health ck and nothing,i contact hp they say send computer in its not under warranty so i wont send it, i have vista cd reinstall that microsoft sent me to reinstall vista but got after win 7 came out so i figured win 7 would fix anything and did an upgrade over the top of vista threw microsoft store for win7 so should i take windows 7 off and reinstall vista and then reinstall win 7 ? I had vista 32 home prem. and installed win7 32 home premium,i have tried alot of options at microsoft and hp but to no avail.i have the amd turion 64 x2 mobil tl-58 1900 mhz 2core x86 based,i also have the unknown device in device manager and have tried to update and windows says no and gives error 43 i uninstall and it comes back,i did the take out battery and turn back on and the imaging device showed up with webcam and where unknown device was said composite device the the webcam still didnt work and turned off computer at nite turned back on in morning and its all gone again,so i am hoping for some help, thankyou

I read your one paragraph too long needs breaking up story and may missed a few key items.

Let's start with this link:

I see only one HP driver offered which is the "HP Wireless Assistant" so you are left without drivers except for what MSFT offers.

Many are learning about installing windows for the first time. Many are used to ready to use machines with all the drivers pre-installed so your story sounds like you are only now discovering that Windows has for years never found the drivers for us.

You need to touch base with HP and see if they plan to issue more drivers.

The question remains.

To HP. When will the webcam driver arrive?

In the meantime try the Vista 32 or 64 bit driver for that. In a recent install I found that the webcam worked much differently than before. It did show up in video chat but the HP app was missing. No picture or video recording.

Windows 7 Removale

How can I remove Windows 7 I uploaded it on to two computers thinking that I might be able to until I read about the Family Pack option. Is there a way for me to uninstall Windows 7 on my second computer and just make it go back to the OS it was at before?

How to uninstall Windows?

That needs to be put in a FAQ somewhere. As you suspect unless it is in Add Remove Programs (not there!) you get to treat the machine like it is a fresh install. That is you boot your Vista or other CD and treat it like a fresh install.

Recovery media is best since I don't have to find all the drivers.
