did you reinstall Networking? It's not turned on by default nor will it scan for networks. Run the Network Setup Wizard. Make sure the wi-fi card is plugged in, and if asked, put a check in the box to ignore disconnected devices.

I have a fairly new computer, and until today I've used Windows Vista. I downgraded to XP for gaming reasons, but now I can't connect to my Wi-Fi connection. The router is set up to a completely different computer on the first floor of my house, whereas mine is on the second.
I don't want to set up a new connection, I just want to know how to scan for wireless networks using Windows XP. So far, I can't figure it out for the life of me.
