Problem with Windows Contacts in Windows Mail (6.0) on Vista

Jul 4, 2007 1:49PM PDT

I bought my laptop (HP Pavillion dv6000) with windows vista preloaded on it.

I have a problem in the Mircosoft Windows Mail (6.0). I cannot import or export Contacts - an error message box with a red cross in it, and no text for explaination appears. In addition, when I click on a contact that is already in my Windows Contacts (i.e. ones which have been automatically stored there when someone emails me), to access more info on that contact, the box briefly opens up but then closes itself. i.e. I cannot view the information on any of my contacts either.

Can someone please help me!?!?

Thanks so much.
Tim

I believe this problem arises from Vista update KB33928. I uninstalled it and the problem was fixed.

Skimbleshanks6,
You are a legend......it worked!!!!! You've been able to fix something that no one from Mircrosoft or HP could do - thankyou so much.

By the way, it is KB933928 (you missed a 9 at the start of it).

Cheers
Tim

Glad to help - sorry about the typo! Makes you wonder just how throroughly, if at all, these things are tested before release. I now have altered my settings so updates are not automatically downloaded and installed. I'll wait a while to see if any bugs are reported before I do so!

I know - can't believe I had so much trouble finding help - if it happened to you and I, I wonder why Microsoft doesn't know about it. Anyway, it is all sorted now, and I feel a lot better about my new laptop than I did a few days ago!
