I find that if drivers don't stick I use the restore media to push the machine back to it's factory OS. Some owners are livid about that but it is a known fix.

A couple of years ago my sound went out on my Toshiba Laptop. I have been searching for solutions since. All the forums haven't been able to help me. HELP!!
I have been able to get sound by loading MANUALLY "sm35xsndx.exe" to load sound drivers but when I reboot or power off the laptop, I loose the driver. I have to load it manually again! Not all the time but more often than not.
When I extract 'sm35xsndx.exe, the Realtek Audio Driver v5.10.0.5620 Logo extracts. It all extracts to 'c:\Audio.temp'
Then Realtek AC'97 Audio Setup (4.95) begins then finishes and asks for a reboot. It seems to make no difference whether I reboot or not. The sound is back. If I reboot, the problem happens again! So I have learned not to reboot.
Can anyone help me?????
Is there anywhere in the registry I can place it so I simply have audio when I turn on my laptop on?
