Question

Problem with SIS 180/181 Raid

Jan 24, 2012 6:35AM PST

I recently had to put zune on my pc to work a cell phone that someone gave me to use while I am waiting to buy a new one. Zune was causing my pc problem so I uninstalled it. I thought the days of MS problems were over a long time ago. It appears that after I uninstalled the program I now have a problem where my SIS RAID program cannot be found and it asks me to assign the channels. This pc was given to me a while back (199Cool so I do not know how it was programmed. Right now my SiS 180/181 RAID Controller states NO DEVICE is assigned to Channel 1 or Channel 2. The driver is Silicon Integrated Systems Corp from 5/3/2005, and it is 5.1.1039.1090. It is digitally signed as Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher. I am afraid to update it since my pc has been crashing and just today said I had a problem in the Kernal memory. I am not sure what to do and I would like to learn how to fix it. I do not want to spend oodles of money to buy new parts. If it cannot be fixed, I would rather buy a new pc eventually. I like to learn how to fix pc's so any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Happy
