Problem with Samsung Remote App for Android

I really like the Samsung Remote App for Android to control my UN55D800 TV, except that one of the major features doesn't work. Neither the channel UP/DOWN nor the numeric keypad work, so I can't change the channel with my phone. When I press these buttons, it says not available on the TV screen. This makes the app essentially worthless. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how do I fix this?
