Resolved Question

Problem with Samsung Galaxy Note Tablet

Aug 2, 2013 8:57PM PDT

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet and have encountered a slight problem and wonder if anyone can give me a bit of advice.
When I originally bought the device, I configured it to require a password to access the applications, after swiping the initial screen.

I can still operate the device by entering the password, but I'm finding it increasingly annoying now to have to enter the password every time I switch on. I'm the only one who uses the tablet and have tried to find a way to disable the password requirement, but have been unsuccessful so far.
Can anyone tell me how I can disable the password entry requirement?
Thanks

While my bet is it's buried in settings.

Supply a link to the manual and I'll see if I can find it.

Here's what I'm reading.
Aug 3, 2013 3:18AM PDT

"Note: You can customize the Lock screen and set the type of
Screen Unlock you want to use (Face unlock, Pattern,
PIN, or Password). For more information, refer to
"Security" on page 191."

Page numbers appear absent where I read that so later I find that Security page 191 and read.

"Security
Screen Lock
Choose settings for unlocking your screen. For more
information about using the lock and unlock features, see
"Securing Your Device" on page 14.
1. From a Home screen, touch Apps, Settings, Security
2. Touch Screen lock for these settings:"

Hope this helps.

Problem Solved !
Aug 3, 2013 9:06PM PDT

Hi Bob,
Thanks again for your help - you must spend many, many hours on your PC helping others with their problems - I can tell you that the help you have given me on several past occasions, is truly appreciated Happy

The information provided in the User Manual is at variance with the data on the Tablet's O.S. The manual states : "From Home screen, Apps > Settings > Security > Touch 'Screen Lock'...", but there is no 'Screen Lock' on the Security page !
After some experimentation, I found the correct path to the required facilities is : Apps > Settings > Personal > Lock Screen > Select Screen Lock. Then all the various options (Swipe, Face Unlock, password etc.) can be accessed.....
So much for accuracy in the User Manual !

Thanks again Bob
