Problem with Samsung 5 series: Movies stop after 1h 14m

by hyjynx2 / September 17, 2011 9:59 AM PDT

I've read about this in other forums but found no answers. My Samsung UN46C5000QXZC stops playing certain movies after 1 hour and 14 minutes. It has happened with .avi and .mp4 files and keeps happening with the same files even though those files play properly on my computer's media player(s).

Not one maker will claim that they will play MKV files. How could anyone? MKV is a "CONTAINER" of content so not only must it be that but the encoding of what's inside must be supported.

With that out of the way, there are limits to the player in these devices. What I found is exactly what you noted yet no where in the manuals are these stated to play. In fact I see a note about "if it doesn't play, it's not supported."

This is why I use other devices to play content.

Are you playing the files via USB or via DLNA streaming? If DLNA, it could be the DLNA media server you are using is at fault and not your TV at all. If you are playing your files using DLNA, what is your media server? Perhaps try another DLNA media server and see if the same problem occurs.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
