Problem with photoshop

Dec 6, 2004 10:02AM PST

I have been using photshop for the last couple of months and every thing was alright. But now it is giving problem. When launched it gives an error message ...."An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format" . When I close this message another message appears saying ..."A required application library failed to load and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application" and the program closes. I reinstalled the program but still the problem persists. What is that program with incorrect format ? Which library file refused to load ? I am perplexed. Any suggestion to solve this?

My OS is Windows XP Pro.

Did you recently installed any new software or Service Packs?

Have you scanned for an spyware programs?

Also, which photoshop version is this?

I did not install any service pack, but I have installed Sound Forge Ver 7.0 and isobuster to open ISO files (this was downloaded from www.isobuster.com). I have also installed the latest version of MSNMessenger.

I have not scanned for spywares specifically. But I am using Norton Antivirus 2005 which , I hope, will take care of this. If there is any other software specifically for detecting spyware I will be grateful to have details.

The problem I mentioned is with Photshop Ver 8.

I think the best way to find out whats the problem is to find out what you have done recently to stop the program working.
So just uninstall each software and reinstall the Photoshop and see if it works. If u r running on windowsXp then system restore should do the trick and try installing other software one at a time.

Also try deleting the whole photoshop directory form the program files directory(After backing up u r important files from this directory)befor u reinstall photoshop
I feel its mainly due to the corrupt registry settings.
