Problem with opening files on my Desktop

One day a while ago, out of the blue, my files starting opening in the search mode whenever i double clicked on them, now i have to left click on them and select open. Does anybody know how i can get them back to normal?

Here's a fix

In reply to: Problem with opening files on my Desktop

amaru82, Go to Start/Run and type in:

regsvr32 /i shell32

Click OK

Note that the spacing is important.

If that doesn't correct the issue which it should, use this automated edit:

Search Opens When Double Clicking a Folder or Drive (Line 18 right column)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

The first solution worked fine, i cant belive it was something that simple that was bugging me for over a year!
