problem with NAV

Hi There I have windows XP home edition with NAV 2004.It was fine tillnow but the auto protect in not enabled & it is turning off automatically by itself. It is not turning on even if I go to the program & switch it on. when I start the comp there is a icon in Right lower corner with a warning that anti virus is and enable it. what ever i do the auto protect is always off. I have original win XP home edition which was purchased with my laptop & original NAV 2004 CD.I have registered the product also after purchase.I dont know how to solve the problem can anubody help me.thanks

Are you getting any kind of an error message at all? If so, EXACTLY what is it? Also, did something happen that caused this that you know of? Also, have you done a virus and/or spyware scan? Some malware can turn your protection off.

thanx for the reply , I am not getting any error messages, as i said before i get a red shield in right hand lower corner saying my virus protection is off & when i click the bubble NAV opens and shows that auto protect is off. However when I click the enable button it is not switching On and email screening is also off. they are not getting switched On whatever I do. I have run anti spyware & virus scan but it shows nothing.Now I dont know what to do. your help will be highly appreciated. thanx once again.

Seeing as you have got

the CD, you could try uninstalling and then reinstalling. Then immediately run live update and see what happens. I might be able to find an answer at the Symantec knowledge base a little later when I have more time or you could even try that yourself if you have time BEFORE you do the uninstall/reinstall. Here is the link. Just type "autoprotect disabled" or something similiar in the search box and click go. If you don't have time to do this, then post back and I'll do it for you a little later when I'm caught up on my regular things.
