Problem with MS-Word printing;

I played around with duplex printing and tried to setup the feature in ?Print / Properties / Finishing (Document Options) ? Print Both Sides? option only to find out that module was not installed for my printer (hp photosmart 7960).

Now I can?t get rid of the option. I have to go into almost all of my documents and cancel the option before I can print.

I thought it might have been a template problem so I went in to ever incident of ?Normal.dot? ? changed the option and resaved the template. That seems to have solved the problem for the most part for new documents.

When I to to print a pre-existing document I get a message "Automatic Two-sided Printing Module Missing"
I am using an hp photosmart 7960 printer.

However, when I go into a pre-existing document I have to go through the same old routine.

Windows inconsistencies

In reply to: Problem with MS-Word printing;

There's basically two different sets of identical printer settings in Windows. One's global, the other is more local.

If you go to the control pannel and then the printers and faxes subfolder, you can access the global printer settings. Right click your printer, and if memory serves (I use Linux on my main system, and my laptop's a Mac), there's a "Printing Preferences" option about third down from the top. Selecting that should get you to the HP Printer settings. Find the duplex printing option there, and disable it. That should disable it for all Windows apps. You can of course override it with any given app for a specific print job, but it's a one time deal. It's not stored in the app settings or the document.
