Problem with .MOV files

Whenever I open any folder containing .MOV files, Windows Explorer always crashes. Could this be related to a Windows update which somehow isn't compatible with this type of file? Many thanks in advance.

Set the folder to detail view in stead of thumbnail.

It could be a corrupted or incompatible mov-file. Just try one by one in a new temporary folder.

We saw this back in 95 so nothing new here. How this works (for folk new to Windows) is that if the CODEC which is part of the video rendering system can't handle it crashes, then Explorer can crash. It's been debated if this area is broke or not.

Again, well done area of discussion. Microsoft's stance so far is to encode video in supported encodings or not place incompatible files into the system. Today's owners may not accept such old ideas.

In parting, it's almost always a CODEC issue. Try the codec package you get from Ninite. Here's why you use Ninite:
