problem with messenger - video chat between different IMs

Apr 28, 2005 7:33PM PDT

I live in Greece and want to video chat with family in the UK. I ordered a Logitech cam for myself and parents. The problem is that my parents are on AOL (which I cannot get in Greece) and every time they have downloaded MSN or Yahoo messenger the virtual memory struggles to the point of stopping.
Is there a way by which I can use Yahoo messenger, etc. to communicate with AOL messenger? I do not want to use MSN messenger as it caused a problem on both systems. I am running WinXP and my parents have WinME.
Please help as telephone calls are costing me a fortune!!
Thank you

Have you looked at "Trillian"?

This software works with most other messengers. Seems to have most features of others. Look here:

You may need to look around a bit to learn its features. There is a *free* and Pro version. I never used but have seen good reviews. I use MSN Messenger 7.0 without problems and communicate from USA to your neighboring country of Bulgaria almost daily.

Hope this helps!

Video FAQ comment:

"Can I video chat with a user running AIM?
Yes. Trillian is interoperable with video chat on AIM versions 5.9 and greater"

I believe only Trillian Pro supports "Video Chat". Might be worth it in your case. Cost is $25 USD. You can download a trial version of Trillian Pro to try it.

Hope this helps!
