Problem with Internet@TV and Firmware 1026.0

Sep 18, 2010 8:34AM PDT

I had a UN32C6500 with a CN01 panel for three weeks. The other day I exchanged it for a SQ02 panel. Picture on new TV is excellent -- wider viewing angle and less flash lighting, etc. So far so good...

However, I have a problem with the Internet@TV functionality. I went to download Netflix and some of the other apps, but I received an error message "Network Interference, Please Try Again Later"

Then I noticed the firmware was old so I updated the firmware by downloading 1026.0 from the Samsung website on Thursday, copied files to USB drive and updated the firmware.

Here is where it gets weird:

Received same error message, so I selected "reset" from settings on the Internet@TV screen. This was the last time I could access Samsung Apps or Settings on the Internet@TV screen!

I checked network settings. I got four check marks: the TV sees my network fine.

Yahoo Widgets work fine, too. I logged into Yahoo, added/deleted widgets and get content updates okay.

I am NOT using Verizon FIOS. My internet provider is AT&T DSL. My TV with the CN01 panel accessed Netflix, Pandora, etc. with the same network settings, so I really don't think my IP address is unable to reach Samsung's servers.

When I press the Internet button on my remote the Internet@TV 2010 comes on, but the Samsung Apps and Settings buttons remain grayed out. I am unable to reset the Internet@TV functionality because I cannot get to Settings.

I have reset the entire TV by holding the Exit button for ten seconds. I still get same unsuccessful results above.

Has anyone else had a problem setting up Internet@TV with the 1026.0 firmware? Has anyone found a solution to getting past the grayed out Samsung Apps and Settings options and restoring Internet@TV functionality?

Thanks much,
Alan

Problem with Internet@TV and Firmware 1026.0

alanjcook,

The panel shouldn't have any difference on the functionality, since the electronics inside control the Internet@TV applications.

I have two possible solutions:

1. Try switching your connection from "wireless" to "wired" and then back to "Wireless" and select your access point again. Sometimes this can solve the issue.

2. If that doesn't work, I would reset the TV by, with the TV powered ON, holding down the EXIT button on the remote until you're prompted to "Reset?" and select yes. Then, unplug your modem and router for 10 seconds. Once your network is back up, change your settings to wireless from the default "Wired" option and try to connect to your access point again to see if you're able to connect.

Keep me posted.

THanks for the message.

1) I am unable to switch from Wired to Wireless connection and back. THe only choice available is the "Wired" connection

2) I reset the TV (held Exit for 10 seconds) and reset the router, etc. Same outcome: Applications and Settings remain grayed out.

I'm stumped! Is there some other way to reset the TV?

alanjcook,

The only other way to reset the TV is to run the Plug and Play. The hard reset I suggested was more of a complete reset than that is.

At this point, I'd have to recommend contacting Samsung's customer service for further assistance. Unfortunately, I don't know why you're not able to access the features.

Netflix network interference
Oct 16, 2010 11:07PM PDT

I have a 55" samsung 9000 series with a at&t gateway router and i get those messages alllll the time when im trying to stream. I usually have to turn the tv off and back on to reset the internetTV, wich is annoying. I recently was reading my owners manual and it said to switch The communication protocol wich is usually IEEE 802.11A/B/G/N wich are all supported by samsung(so the book says). However it does NOT support IEE 802.11B/G setting. Its says the video will not play smoothly in the protocol. I changed my protocol to B and G both by them selves because my gateway doesn't offer the N protocol wich of course is the recomended protocol. Now that i swtiched that it won't stream at all anad constantly says "network interference" always.

Needless to say im pissed off for spending 5 thousand dollars for the tv and a warranty and i can't even stream normally. I'm going to look into getting a gateway with the "N" protocol and see what happens.

If anyone has advice please share, and i will do the same if i figure out anymore information on this interference issue.( I live in an apt complex so i don't know if theres to many other routers around or what???? who knows...)
