Download and run IEFix from;

Although your problem is not listed, IEFix fixes many IE problems and may work.
If that doesn't work, you may want to consider reinstalling IE, using the guidance in this Microsoft article;

You mention zonealarm as your anti-virus and anti-spyware utilities but you may want to consider a specific anti-spyware application like Ewido, from http://www.ewido.com.

I have run frequent virus scans and spyware scan with zonealarm and i have used adaware but for some reason the internet explorer just won't work, it just says the page can't be displayed, my internet is working fine on aol and mozilla is working fine, but some websites are only compatible with IE thus i don't know what to do. I have followed all the instructions that are given on the " cannot find server" page but invain, i would appreciate if you helped me with this problem. Just as a side note i am using xp, and everything in my pc is up to date.
