Problem with formatting Windows Xp

I start to do format my laptop, press F8, select partition C:, NTFS file system, ENTER, but not continue to do format

Setup is formatting... 0%

I waiting, waiting, waiting, but nothing happen, just 0%

I have windows xp/sp3

I can't tell exactly the method you used. That is, I find folk trying to format with the command line and fail but let's hear if you used the steps from the link I gave. The LONG FORMAT tends to take far too long for most. I'll do the quick and take a chance. Later I'll chkdsk or surface scan the HDD.

IF YOU DID this like the link provided then it's possible the machine has troubles.

Let's see what details you gave about the machine or WHY ARE YOU INSTALLING XP?
