Problem with "flashing" home theater system

Jul 11, 2009 5:25AM PDT

I have the JVC TH-C60.

When I plug it in the lights flash and I hear the subwoofer click in sync with the flash of the lights on the main unit about every two or three seconds or so, but it won't fully power up.

I checked the fuse and it has continuity, so that must not be the problem.

Has anyone had a problem like this?

And how do I avoid getting ripped if I DO have to take it in for repair?

Try

Unpluging for 1 full week and then try. Also check the plug too or try a diffrent plug. Is it plug into a surge protector???
Also check the wires, most recievers will do a 'Wire check' before turning fully on, make sure the speaker wire are not arcing, maybe unplug everything and see what happens, if it then turns on fully, it is a wire problem.

For repair..
How old is it?
How much did you pay for it??
Could you get something new for the same price that it would cost to repair??

that is possible....

I had it unplugged for more than a week. I haven't tried a different plug, though.
I will reinsert all the speaker wires and try again.

I bought the sys new from Wal-Mart for around $600????

I am not sure what a new cd changer unit would cost, and that's the clicker. I am concerned about being charged just under the cost of what a new one would cost me if I had it repaired, such is the way of many scheisters out there. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to tke it in and get an estimate, though.

Ultimately, I would like to be able to watch my TV from the net, using my home theater sys as a large monitor/sound system, but I don't know how practical that would be considering I only have a USB input on the cd changer.

I suppose I could bypass it and run through a unit with a VGA or HDMI input, but I don't use Blue-ray at this time and am not in a hurry to do so. I will be looking to cut cable costs in the near future, but that is another topic in and of itself.

BTW....thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.
