Linda,
Just some questions...
Which audio "player" are you using? Windows Media Player, something else?
That particular "Samsung" model seems to be an older model of DVD-Rom. Did you upgrade to XP on an older machine and either way, did you install the most recent "Firmware" revision for that particular model??. The most recent firmware was issued in December of 2002. Here's a link to it from the Samsung site. :
First, check the current firmware version using the tool a the link below:
Check Firmware Version
Product DVD-ROM Model SD-616T F/W Ver.F306
Hope this helps.

My CD/DVD-rom drive reads everything except audio CDs. I can install programs and play MP3 CDs using that drive - no problems with that at all. Audio CDs sound like there is a bell ringing and that the songs are being stretched out (distorted sound) when I attempt to play them in this drive. The audio CDs that do not play in this drive play fine using the following: DVD+RW drive (on the same computer); DVD player, bookshelf system CD players and portable CD players so it is not the CDs. I have gone through trouble shooting on my computer but have come up empty-handed. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I have a Dell dimension 8250, running Windows XP service pack 1, and the drive information is: VOBID instand CD SCSI CD rom device, Samsung DVD-ROM SD-616T. Thank you for any help you can give me.
