Problem with Disk Cleaner

by Joe50 / January 5, 2005 1:40 AM PST

Windows 2000 PRO with all of the latest upgrades.
350 Mb of ram.
When I start Disk Cleaner, the program get info on the hardisk (10 Mb, with 4.5 Mb free) for about 20 minutes and then the prg. works very slowly. I left the program working all night last night and when I came in this morning the counter was at the same place as it was when I left the office last night, about 20 minutes of work.
1- Do you know about this problem. 2- Do you know of any prg. that does the same function.
Thanks for your help...

There is no Disk Cleaner. There is Disk Cleanup. Fix noted
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / January 5, 2005 1:48 AM PST

If you mean the delay about Compress Old Files, then that was caused by US!!! Consumer research found they wanted the exact number of bytes that would be saved so the only way to do that would be to compress the files then it would be exact.

Fix: Delete the registry noted at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;812248

Yes there is a Windows 2000 version, but it's a volunteer forum and the key is the same for 2000 and XP.
