problem with dell audio

i am asking this question on the behalf of my friends who are experiencing the same audio problem while using the vlc player.
actually, they all are using the dell studio 1558 laptops with windows 7 and when they play any audio or video file using the vlc player they hear sharp crackling sound. this doesn't happens with other media players. even the sound system of two such laptops have got crashed. i want to know what may be causing this problem and its possible solution. updating the audio drivers and using the latest version of vlc haven't solved this.

If the machine has done this since day one, it is possible the machine needs repairs even if it's only VLC. Your post has no details such as you exploring VLC audio options.
