problem with check disk

Aug 1, 2007 4:10AM PDT

My laptop has only one partition (c) and vista is installed on that drive.
Some times back I tried to repartition the existing drive to two drives. But I could not do it because of the CHKDSK problem.
Now I tried to take a Complete PC Bbackup but it asked me to perform Chchck Disk before that.
I tried to run CHKDSK but got a message for Schedule disk check the next time when the system restarts as the drive is currently in use. I clicked to schedule disk check and restarted the machine but after restarting I didn't find anything (no scan disk or check disk) and it starts normally as usual. I tried 2-3 tiems. I don't know what is the problem. If any one can help me in fixing this problem then I will be greatful to him/her.
Is there any other way by which I can know abt chkdsk status.
Btw I bought this Lenovo laptop 2-3 months back and Vista was preinstalled on it with only one drive (80 GB) .

If any body can provide me any useful inoformation then i will be greatful.

Thanks.......

Try this
Aug 1, 2007 8:53PM PDT

Open Computer, right click on the C drive, select properties then tools. Select error checking and automatically fix errors. You should get a message about performing this at the next boot. Reboot the computer and see if it works.

problem with chkdsk : continues
Aug 2, 2007 7:13AM PDT

I have tried as per ur suggestion but output is the same.
After rebooting the machine i didn't find any process running for checking/scanning the disk. Then i tried once again for complete PC back up and got the same error message file system error and to perform scan disk. As vista is installed on the same disk so it asked me to perfom scan disk on the next boot. I restarted the machine but no result. The same old prblem continues.
If u have any other suggestions then please do help me.

Thanks ....

To run chkdsk there can not be anything else running.

Try this LINK ,maybe running chkdsk /F in the command prompt will work, you can try running the command prompt in safe mode.
