problem with bass

hey,

i recently bought an optical cable to connect my home theater to the computer, when im listening to a song n the bass starts to pump the volume totally goes down on its self... now, this is not an issue with my home theater since i have it hooked up to my PS3 n everything just works fine on it.

P.S. i have a realtek software installed on my computer.
