Problem with a clean out computer and GRUB

by Marie678 / November 22, 2004 1:01 AM PST

Several computers were donated to my school and one of them is a Dell Inspiron 7000. It was cleaned out before given to us and when I turn it on, after the Dell logo appears, the word GRUB appears. I can't type anything, nor will it let me install anything. I've been told that GRUB indicates the Linux operating system had been on this computer. I've talked to several people but no one has been able to help me. I'm trying to install Windows as an operating system, but everytime I try, the word GRUB appears and nothing else. (When I press F2 while the Dell logo appears, I can get into a Setup area, but that's it.)

I'm totally frustrated. Can anyone help me get my computer working???

That sounds wonderful. However, where do I get a DOS disk? I remember working with DOS before Windows, but I haven't seen a DOS disk since then.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
