Problem using PS/2 keyboard with HP laptop

Dec 25, 2006 10:50AM PST

Just got an HP Multimedia Keyboard with a PS/2 connector. My HP dv6108nr notebook has no PS/2 port. I read reviews on the basic PS/2 to USB adaptors not working in Dell and Compaq laptops. Has anyone had a problem and is there anything out there I can get to make this keyboard work with my laptop?
Thanks for any suggestions!

I haven't had such a problem before, but if you do there's not much you can do about it except to return the keyboard. One might wonder why not exchange it now and save yourself the potential worry, particularly since PS/2 keyboards are obsolete anyway. (Almost all new keyboards and mice are USB with optional USB-to-PS/2 adapters.)

PS/2 Keyboard

Thanks John...I am just hoping to get it to work - it's a very nice keyboard and I like the feel and look of it better than others out there. I wonder why they are still making PS/2 keyboards if everything is USB? I was just thinking maybe this is made only for desktops and may not be compatible with a laptop?

Thanks again - guess I'll just try to buy an adaptor locally so I can easily return it if it doesn't work.

'Cause there about a billion PCs out there with PS/2 connectors.
