Problem Sharing

After much trouble i finally managed to share an internet connection between two computer, wired. However whilst the other computer is connected to mine my computer freezes and stops responding

has anyone else had this problem in the past.

and i am open to suggestions as to how to fix it

Are both machines running XP? Are you using an Ethernet crossover cable? What kind of Internet connection?
