Problem runing PCLinux OS live cd

I downloaded and burned the iso image using Nero. Booted the cd, selected live cd from the menu. At the next screen with progress bar at bottom, it moves about one inch, then freezes.
So, I downloaded a new file from different site, burned with CDBurnerXP.
Got the same result.
My old socket 478, Winxp, 2.8 ghz P4, 512 mb pc 2700, runs Knoppix and Ubuntu without any problems. I can't figure this one out.
I've also dusted off the laser lens in the cd drive.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem may be?

PCLinuxOS has a few versions.

It also has a new kernel so that version 2007 RC3 just might not work on all machines. It's a test release. Roll back to Big Daddy.
