Problem recognizing HP DF300 picture frame

by jtob2 / April 14, 2009 5:57 AM PDT

Operating system is Windows XP Service pack 3. I am trying to use an HP DF300 digital picture frame but with no success. I attached the unit to a USB port and the system recognizes the presence of a USB type device but installs it as an "Unknown Device".

I tried the unit on a different computer with XP and the system recognizes and installs it correctly. It seems as though for some reason the unit cannot find the correct driver on the original computer.

I greatly appreciate and recommendations on how to get the unit to install properly on the original computer.

Thanks,

Jim

Bob,

Once again, thank you for your insight. Your suggestion was just the push I needed. I installed a USB2 PCI card into the computer and the unit fired up perfectly. It seems it must have been a defective motherboard port.

Thanks again,

Jim O'Brien
