Problem receiving OTA reception with KV34XBR960

by rifleboy7 / October 14, 2009 2:09 PM PDT

I just moved to a new city and waiting for my cable to be installed, so I hooked up an antenna to my Sony KV34XBR960 to at least receive my local stations while I wait. I can't seem to get any of the HD channels to come in but all the 480i channels appear. I was under the impression that this set has a built in HD tuner to receive the over-the-air broadcast. Is there something I need to do to get them to come in or am I under the wrong impression with this TV. Thanks for the help.

What Over-the-air HDTV antenna did you use? Remember that OTA is a mis-mosh of what you get here may not be over there. I'm running into folk that don't get it.

Reception Problem

I just picked up an inexpensive Philips brand SDV2210 HDTV antenna at the local walmart just to get me through until the cable arrives. All of our TV affiliates have their towers only about 7 miles from where we live. I went into the advanced settings menu of the TV and it says I'm getting about 92% reception on all the stations but the two local station that broadcast in 720p are coming in like a film reel that isn't moving fast enough and the two that broadcast in 1080i all I get is a blank picture but I do get the sound. Should I invest in a better antenna or is it something with the TV.

The trouble I'm seeing with OTA is that you are never assured of a signal. Look at articles like http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/Address.aspx

I put in my location and the model antenna you showed just wouldn't do here.

Try that.
