Problem maintaining broadband DSL access

Feb 2, 2006 11:06AM PST

I have just developed a new problem. I run a home network with 1 desktop & 4 laptops all going to a Netgear WGR614 router. That goes into a DSL modem.

Whenever I bring the desktop out of hibernation, the MODEM seems to stop working for the desktop. I can send out to the modem but nothing comes back. I can watch the modem lites and see that the "activity" light doesn't light up. The network connection to the modem is OK because I can log into the router from the desktop. The laptops seem to work OK when they are brought out of hibernation.

The only way I can restore connectivity is to reset the MODEM or uplug the MODEM from the DSL line. Either way forces the modem to resync(?) with the DSL.
But if that's true, why doesn't it happen when the laptops come out of hibernation??
