Problem: ISP or My PC?

Oct 6, 2009 7:52PM PDT

I have a notebook PC with Windows XP and three Browsers(Chrome,Firefox and IE,but use Chrome 95%of the time). Suddenly I lost my Internet(ADSL) connection, with the error message: Error 105(net::Err_Name_Not_Resolved): The server could not be found.
It matters not which browser I use or which web site I tried to access. Can someone tell me if this error message means I have an ISP problem of a Windows problem or a virus, malware problem? And how to fix it if its the latter.

I think it's the PC or the router, if you have any. If you have any friends or relations who also have a laptop that's easy to check. Just invite one of them to see if they can use the internet with you.

but after trying everything - removing viruses, malware, spyware, etc. I called the ISP and guess what? They checked the outside wiring and sure enough it was their screwup. Things are fine now..Thanks for your suggestions...
