Aug 17, 2007 10:23PM PDT

Hi there, i am runnning Mac OS X 10.3.9. I have tried to download SWITCH AUDIO CONVERTER FOR MAC but when i try to install on the HD there is nothing to install my mac just says upgrade which i presumed meant upgrade what is already there. When i try and search for the software there is nothing installed. Please can you tell me where i may be going wrong?

Kind regards

I just downloaded the free version of that software and it appeared to install correctly. Did you download the Free version or some other?

Once the download is unzipped, you should have a file called switchmac .pkg.dmg Hopefully you did.

Double clicking that should cause a HD looking icon to appear on the desktop and a folder with the .pkg file will open.
Double clicking that runs the installer and so on.

Can you confirm that all the above happened?
Some installers use the word "Upgrade" even for a first time installation. Go ahead and hit the Upgrade button and tell us what it does after that.

Sound switch download problem
Aug 19, 2007 12:24AM PDT

Hi there, thanks for getting back so quickly. I originally downloaded SS without saving to disk because i have stuffit expander. However i downloaded again but this time saved to disk and it opened open this white box thing ( if that makes sense!!) but when it came to the dialog box it says there are no bytes to install and the upgrade button is highlighted.?? I have even tried downloading with no other programs running. I not a computer expert especially with my Mac but i have downloaded a few things and have never come across this.

Could it be there is not enough space on my HD?? Although it is not saying that.

There are two downloads on the page; one for mac and one for windows. Is there another which i should be using??

Would be extremely grateful for more advice.

Kind regards

The white box is a disc image.

Is this the program you are talking about?...

Double click on the white box/disc image. It should contain an icon that looks like a cardboard box. Double click on the box and a program installation window should pop up. Follow the instructions the window gives you and you should have no problem.

Once the program is installed, just eject the disc image icon in the side bar in your finder window. That should be all you need to do.

cheers

that the installer has found something that it thinks is a previous, older, installation of the software and is wanting to update it.

OK, this may sound weird. I deleted the software i downloaded as nothing was happening and remove in completely from the trash. I thought i would try one more search to make sure i removed everything and VOILA!! it appeared. How weird is that?

Thanks again for your support. Much appreciated.
