Problem Installing a Radeon 9600

Dec 28, 2004 12:49AM PST

Hi i got my son a radeon 9600 for christmas and im having problems installing it. When i try to uninstall the old g-force graphics card through device manager it says "this device can not be removed as it is needed to boot the computer."

Ive tried going to add remove programs but there is nothing listed for nvidia.

I tried just plugging in the new radeon but windows just boots to a black screen.

Any help would be appreciated as my son is tearing his hair out waiting to play half life 2, thanks

More about your computer, especially what Operating System. I've never had a computer do that, but others may have. Post back so they can help. chuck

Maybe the old vid drivers in add/remove are listed under the makers name and not nvidia.

I've seen that in the past.
