Problem hooking up InfoLink on Samsung LED 6000 series

Aug 28, 2009 12:55AM PDT

Hi, I recently purchased a Samsung LED 6000 series tv. Everything works fine, except the InfoLink. I connected the tv's Lan port directly to my router and tried connecting to InfoLink to no avail. It repeatedly says it can't connect. What is the problem? My modem & router are working fine. Thanks.

Problem hooking up InfoLink on Samsung LED 6000 series

aday75,

There are probably some router settings (or a firewall) that may keep it from passing through. What happens if you hook it up directly to your modem?

Sounds like many individuals are have the same problem. I have become a samsung buyer ever since my brother first bought his Samsung LCD. Now, I have bought my LED 6 Series w/ infolink which I cannot set up. I've tried just about everything. I've read a couple of suggestion on this site and I cannot understand why the gateway ping fails.

What is "Gateway Ping?" And how do I resolve my issue.

Felipe Rangel,

What is the full model of the television?

Also how are you connecting it, and what are you connecting it with?

The model number is "UN46B6000VF."

I have a home based office on my second floor where the cable modem is located, and tv on first floor. I have a Linksys wireless router wherein I've tried connecting a Linksys wireless accessory. The accessory is connected to my USB port located behind my Samsung tv (6000). Details below:

1) Time Warner Cable (2nd floor modem);
2) Modem to Wireless-N Linksys;
3) Wireless-N to Wireless-G 2.4GHz (wireless accessory);
4) 2.4GHz to USB port of Samsung.

I have manually entered my IP, Gateway, etc... but when I test the network, it states that Gateway Ping has failed. Any suggestions?

Can I connect a wireless accessory to my USB port? My next step is to run a hard line from the second floor to my first floor to find if my InfoLink even works. I really want it to work wirelessly, all possible.

Under the T.V. Setup menu, it seem like Cable is the only option I have. I've tried changing the Network Type, but it seems like I do not have that option because I cannot highlight the option to make the changes necessary. Is that correct?

BTW: My Wireless-G 2.4GHz (acessory) does work. With success, I've connect it to my laptop to find if it works.

Thanks!

Felipe Rangel,

If you're not using a WIS09ABGN LinkStick, it may not connect to your network properly. Linksys and Netgear USB drives are not supported. The only LinkStick that I know that works is the WIS09ABGN.

I was trying to avoid purchasing something I may not need. However, looks like I have no other choice. Thanks for you feedback.

Same problem using WIS09ABGN. Turned off firewall with same result. Also turned off router firewall, still get ping failure.
