1. My Palm IIIc is now 4 years old and still the rechargable battery works well.
2. I can find a replacement battery on Ebay for not much and other places too.
3. The service charge is nothing since I can replace it myself.
4. Our Palm Vx is also about 3 years old.
You didn't tell how many years you got from your unit. Such things don't last past 3 years from what I see...

I do not like rechargeable electronic devices. I have had problems in the past with the battery and then you have to incur expense or destroy the equipment.
To me it is much easier to have a PDA powered by a replaceable battery. That way you carry a spare and don't need to bother with the charger.
Also, what do you do when the rechargeable battery burns out? Does it have to be sent to the factory and thus incur you a large service charge or what??
Please discuss this. Thanks
Joe
