Create an empty play list.
With the iPod connected, select it in the left sidebar and configure the preferences to Manage music manually.

I want to delete songs from my 8GB previous-generation iPod Touch, running iOS 4.1. When I connect to my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard the song lists on the iPod are greyed out and I can't select to delete.
I tried to synch from mi MacBook Pro's iTunes library to remove what was on the Touch and replace with what I had selected, as per the warning window on iTunes, and instead synched the same song list twice to the Touch.\I want to wipe the Touch songs clean and re-load from the laptop's iTunes library.
Any suggestions ill be most appreciated.
Thanks!
