Problem connecting Dell Laptop to LN37A450

Dec 17, 2008 2:15AM PST

I have a 1 year old Dell Vostro laptop (Vista 32-bit) with a fairly good graphics card (GeForce 8600 GT 256MB). But when I try to connect my laptop to my Samsung TV through the side S-video and audio cables, it says there is no signal. Has anyone else had this problem? Solutions? Thanks.

mph634,

I would recommend that you update your BIOS from Dell's support site. In most cases, this immediately fixes any connectivity issues.

Keep me posted!

I updated the BIOS (from A05 to A06) and even updated the driver on the graphics card. My TV still tells me there's no signal (audio or video)

mph634,

I'm sorry to hear those solutions didn't work. I don't have a lot of technical information for hooking up a computer via S-Video.

When you go into your video properties, does it recognize your television? Can you add it as an extended desktop at all?

Also, some Dells have a Fn+F8 or F7 toggle that may send the signal to the appropriate output. Have you tried that?

If that doesn't work, your best solution may be calling the service help center in your country for over-the-phone troubleshooting. If you can tell me where you're at, I'd be happy to give you that information.

go to display properties and go to settings tab. then under display select the number two and check extend my windows desktop onto this monitor and u should be able to go. maybe your s video cable is broken . if it is then use the pc one.
