Problem burning Audio CS's... HELP?

So I have been having problems burning Audio CD's for my decks for a while now. The CD's will either be very distorted and skip throughout the track or the disc will be unrecognizable. However this just happens randomly, I burnt 4 discs this morning and all were completely fine then when I tried to burn another disc it would not work, I then ended up wasting 7 blank cds trying to burn the songs i wanted and none would work.

I have tried using many different brands of cds and i have just bought sony cdrs and still having the same results. I have problems with every software that I have tried using including windows media player, itunes and nero.

I have tried burning the cds at various speeds from x2 - x48 but this does not change the outcome. I have also purchased a new external samsung cd burner with no better results.

Is it possible that there could be something wrong with certain files im trying to burn or could this be an issue with my laptop?

Thanks

You've done the usual. One thing.

Did you use a CD Cleaner CD? That's our last hurrah.

DO NOT USE THIS CD ON BLURAY DRIVES!!!

OK, the issue is seen most often on aging players. There's no real fix as replacing the laser assembly is usually more than a new player.

This is also in the Audio CD FAQ. Example:
