Question

Problem buening CD's

by WILKAN / November 30, 2015 10:55 AM PST

I am attempting to burn an audio CD, but it keeps spitting out the disk and telling me to insert a blank disk. I have no problem burning a DVD. I have tried using both Sonic and Media Player. I have also tried reinstalling the Drivers, but to no avail. If anyone has a solution, please tell me in a way that a Dummy like me can understand.
My OS is Windows XP and the desktop is an HP Pavilion

I use Nero Burn Express. It costs around $30 or less.

I see it still works with XP. I've been using it for years and it always works well for me. Still it does cost a few bucks.

Good luck.

maybe download this "CDburnerXP" and give it a try. It's free. If you don't want to get a new cd/dvd drive (if cleaning don't work), maybe you can just burn the music to a dvd..if your player can play dvd disc.

Since, you mention you're PC is XP based and excluding any s/w issues, you may simply have reached the useful life of your CD drive. It doesn't matter is DVD buring works, your CD side doesn't cut it. Especially if it spits out immediately after burning. If it does spit out after some burning, then the drive is more than likely gone. You can play all you want and after trying the fixes already mentioned here, but if the CD drive is over 2-yrs. old, consider it best to replace or try another drive. A new DVD drive that does CDs is your best replacement choice once you decide that the real fix. good luck
