Problem accessing external hard disk

Jun 26, 2011 4:07PM PDT

Recently i have experience problem accessing my external disk. Although the light of the external hard disk is switched on and the icon "Safely Remove Hardware and eject media" is shown in my laptop, I still can't access to the external hard disk.

However, if this external hard disk is inserted in other person computer, it works.

Hope someone can help me to troubleshoot for me. Thanks Happy

Do other drives work?

Is this drive USB powered? If so try adding a power supply to it or the usual USB Y POWER CABLE.

We try the drive on other machines and if it fails we replace it under warranty or try the other ideas you read in this forum.
