probably an old news - goggle.com

by Melati Hitam / July 22, 2005 6:20 AM PDT

I'm using Windows XP-SP2, NAV 2005, spybot sd, adaware se, spywareblaster, all with the latest updates.

I just type goggle.com instead of google.com

the result is some software claiming to be an anti(?) spyware installing something ...

Before it finished (I guess) I closed my IE...

Can anyone give me some information on this.. and if there is something I have to do to clean out the effect?

Thank You and have a nice week end guys...

Melati, this is bad news...
by glenn30 / July 22, 2005 6:27 AM PDT

It has been discussed on these forums in recent months but right now I am unable to find it. Maybe a Google Search will find it.

Best of luck!

be the same result. Hard to tell which is why I'm suggesting multiple scans. That rung a bell with me too immediately Glenn. You have a good memory. Happy

additional info.. when I use a 'MAC' and forget to close the browser... it came a warning message, that a spyware is installed .. and so on...

How do I clean a MAC? same software as PCs?

Thank you again

Hi Melati
by roddy32 / July 22, 2005 6:28 AM PDT

I'm not sure of that exact spyware issue but there are many, many new ones released each day. I would do all your scans with all the programs that you have to be on the safe side and then also do an online scan at one or all of these. See if any of them report anything.
Housecall (using IE with Active-X)

Housecall (all browsers using java)

there was a thread here a while back

cannot seem to find it.

be on the safe side and conduct usual AV and malware scans. if there is anything there it will be revealed.

that said you shut PC off during the process so chances are you killed it.

sorry I could not be of more assistance.

Thanks for the info, I'm aware of
by Melati Hitam / July 22, 2005 6:35 AM PDT

GOOKLE.COM (if that what you reffering - Glenn), but this one is GOGGLE.COM -- Please apologized if you mean the same site..

Roddy, I did the online scan too.. they found nothing.. (Maybe it because I closed the browser before it finished installing)

Thanks again

check your system
by dyspyzthespyz / July 22, 2005 7:02 AM PDT

for these two products....
Spybouncer and Guardbar
goggle.com has the same IP as those and is in the host file to block it.
let me know if one or both of those products are on your system.

In reply to: ok

I guess because of the utility I use (Adaware SE, Spybot SD, Spywareblaster and NAV - with the latest update) and maybe because I closed my browser before it finished installing.

Thank You guys...
