At 40 yrs old, it's hard to keep up a 'saleable' physique unaided. If the steroids were a factor, it's a reminder of what we can do to ourselves without thinking.
I can imagine him being asked, 'Why do you keep wrestling- it's a tough life?' 'Yeah, but it lets me support my family very well.' ![]()
Sad scene, but taking out the wife and kid too is pure selfishness. Who did he think he was to make such a decision for them? He's a murderer.
a stranger psychopath or a very bad marriage. So far, no sign of the latter, so what made him act like a stranger? Steroids always a good bet.
Ever done steroids? Ever been around people that did steroids? Have there been many double blind studys on the effects of steriods (over use) ? It's laughable that the media jumps to that conclusion. I have yet to hear about any East German Women's track team member going "roidal".
I have seen TV shows that tracked people when they began using steroids (under the supervision of a Dr ). The one show I saw was about trying to turn a middle aged guy back to the former college athlete he had been - reminded me of me
. Anyway... the guy vastly improved physically but ended up quiting because of side effects including fighting with his wife.
I'm no doctor, but anecdotally I have heard of many sources which claimed that steroids effect mood. Only folk I have ever heard of that claimed steroids don't effect mood were people in favor of using them. I guess I should have asked you if you are in favor of steroid use by athletes?
That wasn't done before the roids? Do you think he was under more stress while trying to get back into shape? For the most part, steroid users are not chess team, trekies that live in basements spending their days playing video games.
Marital argument can end with a backhand slap (could be fatal, in this case), sudden grabbing and using of a gun or object, throwing a chair, etc. All 'weapons of passion'. Strangling takes several seconds at least, usually looking the victim ('the mother of my child') in the eye. Some sort of rage behind that. In this case, and the information comes from users and ex-users, heavy steroid use may be a factor. And remember the use is outside the regular medical system, both as to medication and monitoring.
This just in: 'They argued over child care'. Doesn't change anything I wrote.

The local news reports said that they were taking steps to divorce, but reconciled. Something seems to have been wrong with the marriage.
... when I worked with MR/DD outreach programs, I would do a lot of in home visits and WCW wrestling was a favorite of many of my clients. Hulk Hogan and all those fellows were still the good guys then.
Benoit was always the quiet, intense fellow who struck me as a bit more than a play actor like many wrestlers are. I never saw him use a gimmick persona and he always seemed to be in a dark mood. Still, I would never have expected him to take out his family.
I can understand a crime of passion and why a spouse may kill another spouse but I can never understand why there is the nut job who insists on killing his or her children.
Supposedly he and his wife had differences over the care of their child who suffered retardation due to Fragile X syndrome. He had two children by a former lover, so maybe they inherit now? So, he probably was paying child support too. Seems the 7 yr old had just exited kindergarten and they couldn't come to agreement on where he should be for his first grade year. Wife also wanted Chris home more to take care of child.
... challenges.
Not as easy job raising a child, let alone adding in developmental disabilities to the mix but murder should not be a solution.
Good info. Thanks for sharing it.![]()
....as at least a partial explanation for John Rocker's bizarre outbursts and sudden downfall a number of years ago.
Research has shown that steroids can lead to unstable tempers and violent outbursts. That doesn't mean they always do.
Not every single person who smokes gets lung cancer either but that's not going to get me to light up.
(I am in no way claiming that steroids were the cause in this case. )
Over the past 34 years I've had 2 neighbors on steroids to "bulk up". One went through 5 (at last count) failed marriages. In each one he beat his wife. He was often in fights with others.
The other one was also a wife beater (2 that I know of). He was often in fights, and was arrested multiple times. Once when the police went to his house to arrest him he pulled his gun on them.
Another started on steroids in high school. During college and after he also had several failed marriages for wife beating.
Not to say that all wife beaters use steroids. But women should be cautious before saying "I do" to those who do use the stuff.

But does the fact their were other possible contributing factors lesson the role steroids may play in these situations?
Of course there were. But it's sooooooooooooooooooooo easy ti say ROID RAGE. Kind of sexys up the news story.
It was about asking a simple question and never getting an answer.
Make of it what you will.
Don't you think perhaps steroid use affects people's temperment? Perhaps makes them take things too personal, or make them feel everything said that doesn't agree with them 100% is an attack directly on them?
