printing selected text

by barb214 / August 19, 2006 12:10 AM PDT

I have an IBM 4019 Laser printer, It has lost the ability to print highlighted sections of text, It no longer has the 'selected' option in the menu-file-print as it used to, when I highlight a section the page comes out either printed in full or blank.

If I am on line and wish to print a section of text, the option of 'selected' is now available but the page comes out blank when printed.

Any help please?

Is this limited to a word processor, email, web browser or ALL?

And what OS?

Finally did you uninstall and reinstall the printer driver?

In reply to: What application?

Rob,
My OS is XP.

When I use MS works word processor, it does not give me the option to print any highlighted text (the opton is not there) I am sure it has been in the past.

I go on a web site to answer questions on Golf. I have printed the questions out before, now when I try to print them out it only prints the first page, (there are 24 questions so they will not fit on one page) It has printed three pages in the past. The page has a print button at the bottom of the page. The remedy suggested by eddie will not work as the copy and paste method brings up a distorted table with mixed text.

I highlited the text of your answer and It printed fine, by selecting the 'selected' option.

I have not uninstalled the driver, not sure how, or if it would give me more trouble trying to install the new one.

Not sure why it worked one day and not the next.

When I select text online, and for whatever reason it will not allow me to print "only" the highlighted area, I do the following: I select the text, click copy, open my word program, click paste and then print.
Only a suggestion,
Eddie

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
